With the engine on the stand, I removed the flywheel plate and had access to the rear of the engine. There was a lot of oil all around but the Cam plug seemed fine and so did the outside of the main rear seal and the wiper edge. The oil seemed to be coming through the dowel pin holes.  They have a groove in them so if oil gets back there it will come through. The first picture shows the original main rear seal after I cleaned the rear of the case. The dowel pin area was loaded with oil and sealant.

Picture three shows the part of the flywheel that attaches to the crank.  Sonex says to put sealant in here instead of an O ring that used to be fitted.  I think there was a gap in the sealant I first applied or it broke down.  This time I used the hi-temp RTV.

Picture two shows the new seal installed.  I covered over the Cam plug after cleaning it off but I don’t think anything was coming from there. The last picture shows flywheel back in place and the gland nut torqued.
