With the tail tip going through the fill stages, I went ahead and replaced the fuel vent tube with a steel one. This was more difficult to fit and took a lot of work. Do it right the first time next time.
The last two pictures show a metal tab I attached to the cowl to close the small gap between the prop hub and the oil cooler opening. The plans call for this to fiberglass. With my issues I decided to make it out of aluminum. I will drill the other cowl for a Southco stud just like the plans call for but mount the receptacle to the aluminum tab.
