We are then to the finishing touches. The first picture was some sanding of the edge that took place after the canopy was attached. When I first went to close the canopy after it was secured in place, the latch would not slide in and lock because it could no longer get down far enough. I surmise that when riveting the side it pulled the material in tighter than the clecoes and then the plexi protruded just a bit more on the bottom. I could not sand cleanly around the guide pin so I took this picture to show how much of the material got trimmed back before I sanded this bump down. The second pictures shows how I solved a problem. I must have cut my bows a little too short and this one did not protrude down below the aluminum trim piece far enough. The rivet with the aluminum washer under it was supposed to be through the trim piece and into the bow and the steel piece that connects the bow to the square tube. I moved it up and adjusted the location of the inside rivets and simply added the washer. That left the end of the trim with nothing holding it down. I put the rivet below it through the trim piece and the plexiglass. It is simply cosmetic. The last two pictures show the slide handle and lock pieces in the slot cut into the plexiglass. |
