With rework of the wiring diagrams, new parts ordered and one sent back for repair, it took awhile to get around to finalizing my panel. I did, and then made a full scale mockup. The idea for how to mount my Lowrance GPS came from Bob Mika’s panel.  I have also seen it mounted in a similar fashion on Eric Witherspoon’s website.

The Enigma EFIS in the center of the panel is what needed a repair and is back at the shop.  I have run it for many hours on the bench and it has always behaved perfectly. There was only one thing I had never tried, running from its own secure back up battery.

I ordered one from MGL USA and hooked it up. The unit saw the battery and began trickle charging it.  I let it charge for 24 hours and then pulled the main power on the Enigma.  Nothing, no switch over to the backup battery. The battery was charged and would run the Enigma from the main power lines. I was really surprised because the Enigma has behaved so well. I really love it.
