When you have a lot of clecos on a big section, this pneumatic cleco tool comes in very handy.  The original cleco pliers I had were really crappy.  I eventually got a Cleco branded pair of cleco pliers and they are worth the little extra money.

For those who don’t know what a cleco is, it is a temporary fastener. Think of it as a temporary rivet.  It holds all the pieces together while you are drilling new or updrilling smaller holes. When you push down on the tab at the top of a cleco, two little prongs extend and slide by a spacer.  As they go by the spacer, the prongs will be able to be put through a hole. When you release the tab on the top of the cleco, the two little prongs retract and are pushed apart by the spacer. They will now grab the backside of the hole and will not come out unless the top tab is depressed.  They come in various diameters and the color signifies the size.  Silver are the 3/32”, the ones in the picture are 1/8”. With airplanes you are always putting parts together to drill and then taking them apart to deburr all the holes.  You can’t just drill and rivet.  That’s why you need clecos.
