I also made up my comm. antenna from RG400 that Chris Williams gave me. (Thanks Chris).

I had a stripper tool that worked perfectly and a crimper.  The crimper worked perfectly but the operator malfunctioned, although I didn’t know it at the time.  If you look closely you can see that the metal tube surrounding the wire is crimped into a hexagonal shape.  However, you can see that the hex shape does not extend all the way to the connector.  Unfortunately, I had not noticed that the tool die does not have a hex profile all the way across. It is round at one end.  I had the hex side and the round side reversed, so the tight grip of the crimp is not holding fast. It’s fixed now.

      These two pictures show the antenna after I made a rounded wedge piece to support the flat antenna base and drilled the mounting holes.
