The shot below is before reattaching and drilling the other end as shown on the previous page.  I put the shot here not because it looks so nice, but because it is wrong!

Part of my pondering had to do with how to fix a problem. With the piece in position as made, the channel was not lining up with the pre-drilled skin.  The holes would be too close to the edge.

A review of the plans showed that I had attached the channel to the wrong side of the clamp.  The solution was to drill out the rivets and re-rivet with the clamp on the other side.  However, I didn't do that until I had drilled out the other end - with the clamp on the wrong side (on purpose).  I did that because it would have been impossible to drill from the other direction.
    Here is the channel riveted per the plans.
