I then fitted and drilled the front pieces. The port side front piece is a little different than the pictures from Sonex.  The piece was supplied cut in the shape of the plans but the picture from Sonex clearly show the piece coming more forward like the right side.  The pieces supplied can’t fit in the same manner as in the supplied photos and the cut out for the exhaust is much larger.  It appears that a change was made because of where the intake is located.  By adding an additional bend, I was able to make it fit very nicely.

In the second photo you can see that I installed an aluminum rivet to hold the two pieces together as I fit them.  I did this because I could not get a cleco to go in from the rear because of the exhaust pipe location.  I installed the rivet so I would be able to fit the cowling to check that my fitting would work – which it did.
